'Reburn' - Juliette Minchin, solo exhibition

Juliette Minchin (b. 1992) lives in Paris, where she developed her sculpture, installation, video, and drawing practice. She graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in scenography and Beaux-Arts de Paris, where she stages her work using materials, light, smell, and sound.
The use of natural materials (plaster, earth, wax or liquid) gives her sculptures an undeniably organic dimension, whose surface is close in its appearance of the skin. The repetition of the same gesture and the random evolution of the material gives them a processual aspect.

Specifically for ROOF-A, Minchin is creating a new, site-specific installation for the entire ground floor of the gallery, titled REBURN. In this new series of works, Juliette Minchin explores the traces of combustion and transformation. Her oeuvre manifests as a visual meditation in which matter and memory become intertwined. The works unfold an aesthetic that is simultaneously fragile and unforgiving.

Kim van Norren, solo exhibition

For Kim van Norren (1980, the Netherlands), painting starts with the search for a text in which she can distinguish a personal experience. Form, color and text are her three main ingredients while the latter gains a potency which emerges from its confluence with the image. She finds her words in song lyrics, among others, granting them a whole new meaning once lifted from their context.

Van Norren was a resident at De Ateliers in the Netherlands. She won the Royal Award for Modern Painting in 2010 and the Sieger White Award in 2014. She has exhibited her work at venues such as the Dordrechts Museum, Museum de Fundatie, Rijksmuseum Twenthe and Stedelijk Museum Schiedam in the Netherlands. Her work is held in various public and private collections, among which the Caldic Collection in the Netherlands.
